Introducing an Express Readers author
Janeé is joining the Express Readers family with A Space for Sight Words, a guide that takes educators beyond memorization and into how kids actually map words for automatic reading.

The new book
Breaking into the Orthographic Layer
Sight words are not a pile of flashcards or a list to be memorized. This book walks teachers through the literacy layers surrounding every young reader, from their environment to full proficiency, defining how orthographic mapping turns all words into sight words.
About the author
“Every child deserves room to become a reader.”
Janeé R. Butler is an educator, a structured literacy expert, a literacy advocate, and the Director of Program Design & Implementation at The Center For Literacy & Learning. She believes the path to reading runs through the whole child: their environment, their language, and the way they see words on the page.
With A Space for Sight Words, she shines a light on the research and history surrounding sight words for teachers everywhere, charting a course for every word to become a sight word.
