Introduction to Express Readers

This session gives educators a foundational understanding of the Express Readers program from its structure and scope to the tools and materials that bring it to life in the classroom.

  • An introduction to the scope and sequence and skills supported with the Express Readers’ TK-2nd Grade Foundational Skills and Reading Program
  • An introduction to the Express Readers Teacher Platform and Online Assessment
  • An overview of materials and uses in various classroom environment

Reading Reinforcement

Designed to deepen instructional practice, this session equips teachers with research-backed strategies and practical tools to support every learner in reading foundational skills across TK–2nd grade.
  • Phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, and reading comprehension at the TK-2nd grade level (tailored to the grade-level teachers and ability-level teachers participating)
  • Overview of current research on phonics, phonemic awareness, and effective reading practices, as well as realistic approaches to classroom application
  • Implementing Express Readers’ materials and curriculum to support all learners effectively in general education and intervention classes

Support Seminar

Specialized session, individually designed to fit the current needs of a classroom, a school, or a district, including but not limited to:
  • Assessments and the Express Readers’ Online Assessment Platform
  • Implementation of assessment results and informal teacher assessment based on student needs
  • Phonemic awareness and phonics instruction for TK-2nd grade
  • Reading and reading comprehension instruction for TK-2nd Grade
  • Effective use of centers with the Express Readers’ Programs

These sessions are designed for classroom teachers, interventionists, instructional coaches, and administrators working with students in TK through 2nd grade. Sessions can be tailored to the grade levels and ability ranges of the participating educators.
If you’re new to Express Readers, we recommend starting with the Introduction to Express Readers session to build a strong foundation. Schools looking to deepen their instructional practice may benefit from the Reading Reinforcement session, while those with specific implementation needs should consider the Support Seminar, which is individually designed to fit your current goals.

Absolutely. The Introduction to Express Readers session includes an overview of both the Teacher Platform and the Online Assessment tools. The Support Seminar can also provide deeper, hands-on guidance on using assessment data to inform instruction and meet individual student needs.
