“Silly sentences” works best if teachers make it fun and invoke their childhood sense of humor! The sentences are often not realistic, and students need to draw a silly picture that shows how the sentence can make sense.
Example: The wig wins.
What a teacher might say: “The wig wins???? How silly!!! Was he in a race against a hat????”(Once students get the idea of how Silly Sentences work, students will be very independent in creating their pages.)
